I bought this to replace a similar 3-level touch in the bottom of a touch lamp that I wasn't willing to discard. The original device got fried when the incandescent bulb blew with the typical bright flash. It must have sent a surge back through the lamp. Peeling the felt off the lamp bottom and getting the old touch control out was fairly easy. The hardest part was getting the ground off which required manuevering some needlenose pliers down into the lamp. I labeled the wires so putting the new Lamson in was a piece of cake. Now I have a four way touch that works perfectly. The extra level over my prior 3-level allows me to adjust the lighting for nearly every situation. I'm glad I bought this. My favorite old lamp lives on and is now even better! Thanks. **update** Lamson seems to recommend a 100W bulb for this control. I tried one and immediately noticed some erratic effects, i.e., lamp coming on when it gets jostled if only the wooden table is bumped against, etc. Dropped back to a 75W bulb and the touch control works perfectly.

An excellent replacement for burned-out touch-controls, and a great way to add dimming to lighting that's too bright most of the time, but where the high level is still needed occasionally. It's got wires & wire-nuts, but if you follow the directions, it's easy.

The old one in a 3-level touch control lamp blew out recently. Got this one as a replacement . . . and you can't find these things at the Big Box hardware or home improvement stores. Although made by a different company, it was a "drop-in" in **size** as it was the same size as the old one (but not the wiring colors . . . read on). You MUST follow the directions! Read them CAREFULLY and hook up the color coded wires properly. While other makers of these things may use the same colors for the wires, the proper hookup of them can be different. If buying as a replacement, don't assume the color coding of the wires of this one is the same as the old one! Hook it up incorrectly and you'll "pop" it the first time you touch the lamp . . . necessitating buying another (as happened to another reviewer). Hook it up correctly, and it works quite well. I almost hooked it up wrong (copying the color coding of the old one) and was *very* glad I took a closer look at the instructions before plugging in the lamp. An inexpensive lamp repair . . . or conversion of a metal lamp to touch control . . . and the four levels are nicer than the three the original touch control had.

Since you will then have 3 pairs of wires from the lamps, you will need to use larger wire nuts. Gardner Bender 25-002 Wire Connectors work fine.

The dimensions that Amazon provides must be for the packaging that this device comes in. The device itself is much smaller, approximately 1.5" x 1" x 0.5". Also, it comes with all the connectors that you will need.

This Westek touch control socket dimmer converted an awkward table lamp into an easy-to-use light. We were tired of reaching underneath the lamp shade, fumbling blindly to find the switch to turn the lamp off and on. This dimmer installed easily into the existing brass lamp socket. Now any metal part of the table lamp becomes the "switch". Touch the base, or touch the shade harp or the metal finial. With each touch, the light level cycles through three levels of brightness and then turns off.

The title of this tells it all. I turn off the lamp with touch faature, and within a few minutes, the light bulb turns on again by itself, and stays on. Very unreliable.

Did not go all the way into the socket, and did not work as advertized. A call to the MFG resulted in no return calls. This unit was to replace an older model that plugged into the wall. I suggest they go back to that model. We have two of the old style, one of which died, and newer model was supposed to replace it. If you look at the base, their are two wires that are supposed to make contact, however if you have a paper inside, that will not allow it to work.

Like one of the previous reviewers said, this product will probably not work in most lamps. In older lamps, the entire metallic housing that the bulb screws into is exposed, allowing the two contacts (protected by the two tabs) to contact. However, with most (if not all) newer lamps, the metallic housing sits inside another housing, usually made of plastic or ceramic. So when you screw this product in, the two plastic tabs hit the plastic/ceramic housing on the lamp and prevents the two contacts from contacting your lamp's metallic housing. It's a little bit difficult to explain, but trust me, once you buy this and find out it doesn't work, it's easy to see why.

This is a great little device. I have had 2 for 4 years now and they work great.

It works fine as long as it is firmly plugged in. If it is jostled even the slightest bit, it does not function properly until the plug is readjusted. I found that bending the tines slightly outward helps significantly, but you must take care not to break the plastic housing.

I plan to try to return the "touch dimmer". I couldn't get it to do anything on my lamps. I tried it on several of them. Would have been cool if it had worked, but alas... - Stagehand Jim

Bought this for a metal floor lamp used for reading. The lamp did not have a 3 way socket. I ordered this unit. Plugged it into the wall socket and plugged the lamp cord into the unit. Touched the lamp and it turned on high, again, medium, again, low, again, off. I was using a 100 watt bulb in the lamp. I would guess on high it was the full 100 watts, on medium 60 and on low 40. Of course it depends on the max wattage you put in the lamp. Can't say much more than it works. I wish it would allow you to dim and brighten through the full range as a wall dimmer would but this works fine for my needs. My wife can read on medium, low for background light or high if we need a lot of light.

Ordered this product but received what was evidentily a substitute. Received an "Amertac" brand version instead. The substitue worked as advertised but is way more bulky then the original order. Does not allow, (the substitute), for other devices to be utilized in the same receptacle.

American Lighting ALTPDPI Dimmer, Table Top Touch, Three Levels, 150-Watts, Includes 8-Foot Wire and Touch Pad This is a great little product. You get so much relief from having to fiddle with plugging and unplugging the Christmas tree. You plug it into the socket behind the tree, then stretch it out for the full length of 8 feet and use the tiny toe pad to set it to low, medium and high wattage. The geat advantage is with the three level lighting options you can keep the tree at a very romantic level in the dark of the evening and watch the TV without the glare of the zillion lights on your pre-lit glaring back at you. The economical advantage is a great benefit. You can keep it at the lowest level and save those bulbs year after year with the soft glow on dark evenings. On special occasions go for the highest level with just a touch of the toe. To sum up this product it dims lights to save energy, creates a mood setting, and happily brings longer life for bulbs on your pre-lit tree.

I purchased this light because I have bizarre sleep problems associated with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I was familiar with its use for Seasonal Affective Disorder, and since there is not much known about CFS yet, I thought I would try it. I use it first thing in the a.m. for 30-60 minutes while I watch TV. I am not sure that I sleep better, but I have less sleepiness during the day after I use the light. The light therapy did make me somewhat nauseated. There is a slight odor, but I did not find it bothersome as reported in earlier reviews. I would recommend it for anyone who dreads the decline in daylight following the summer solstice.

This device works as advertised. I use it every morning and find my mood is gradually improving. I Live in Michigan where it is not unusual to go weeks without a sunny day in the winter. Makes life pretty grey. This light helps a lot! I particularly like the LEDs as they are not as prone to burning out like the old tube type lights. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a boost in their light exposure.

I purchased a P1 several years ago and only used it for about six months. After letting it sit for a few years, I recently decided to try it again but it would not turn on at all. I opened the back and the batteries in it were still good, I tried another 9V cord, but it still would not turn on. I sent an e-mail to customer service requesting advice on how to service the unit. The response only referred to the two year warranty. A phone call to customer service was no better; they just repeated the same two year warranty information, even though I had already specified that it was an older unit. I was told that they no longer had service centers and that there was no way to service or repair the unit, only replace. My fault in not using the P1 more during the warranty period, but I would have expected the light unit to work longer than a few months, and that there would be some way to service a unit that apparently has a history of faulty workmanship. I hate to throw something in the trash that was hardly used and worked fine in the past, and might still consider trying an electronics shop, but no way am I spending money on another product from this company.

This light works great for SAD. Does anyone know if it would work for someone I know who is depressed because of a traumatic event and not from SAD?

I bought this last year and feel it worked. However, I just contacted Phillips who acquired the Golite brand at 800-545-9667 to see if I could get a product user manual and maybe check into a battery upgrade. (it would be VERY nice for it to be portable) The woman who answered was not helpful and not so nice,,, everything I asked was an annoyance to her and she told me to call back and ask for "Kathy". (wouldn't take my number) I was told this P1 model is discontinued an no longer supported. Take this into account when you consider a purchase and maybe give a test call before you plunk your money down.

I haven't had this product real long to test it out but I really do think so far it's actually does have a positive effect per usage. I'm slowly upping the time and intensity to see if I get better results. I usually don't have a great problem until the months starting in Dec on thru the spring but I want to get a jump start before things get too bad for me.

We use this dimmer on a floor lamp in the baby room. It does what it is supposed to do- dim. The slider control is very sensitive and the lamp flickers sometimes, but this might be the lamp and not the dimmer switch. I wish it were a bit easier to adjust. The switch lies on the floor but I have to pick it up to adjust it.

A perfect gadget....sets table lamps to mood lighting to task lighting with no fuss. Would like to see a design with a new flat wall hugging recepticle to tuck behind a cabinet better. Other than that, perfect!

Like I said on my review of this product in the brown. I don't want to be without it.

The product description says to not use it with a motor but it works fine running two 150 watt box fans. It is nice to be able to set the exact speed that you want on both fans at the same time. The three speeds the fans have lack the precision needed. You can set them at a super low speed so that they are very quiet but you still get some air movement.

My daughter gave me one a few Christmas ago, a different brand and when it stopped working I really missed it. I went on line and found this one at Amazon and so far I love it. I only gave 4 stars because I haven't had it a year yet and also its hard to get it at the lowest dimmer without it going out, you have to really work with it.

I am very pleased with the Samsung HDTV. The product was as advertised, the price was right and the delivery from Amazon was flawless. I'm a happy camper. I had no trouble with the setup; about one hour from start to finish.

After reading numerous reviews over the past few months, I finally pulled the trigger and bought this baby along with the Samsung 52". Both arrived promptly and in perfet condition. Hookup was a breeze and my family was extremely happy with the picture particular my husband who "lives and breathes" ESPN.

SAMSUNG TV 32B650 SRARTED UP WITHOUT A PROBLEM. IT CONTINUES TO PLAY FLAWLESSLY. THE SOUND OF THE SPEAKERS IS VERY GOOD AS WELL AS THE PIUCTURE. I AM PLEASED WITH THE PURCHASE FROM AMAZON .COM.

This is our first purchase of a HDTV, after many weeks of online and in store comparison ( quality of picture and price) this was a great deal. It was easy setup, connection for the DVD and stereo system for surround sound was no problem, I would recommend this TV.

The product arrived within just a few days after ordering and is packaged in such a manner that the product is well protected against damage during shipment and arrived in perfect condition. The tv was on the air in a matter of minutes after minor assembly and the plug and play feature quickly took me through the setup and without difficulty. The tv works great for a mid sized bedroom and meets all my expectations and I would difinately purchase again.

The Sleep Sheep sounds haven't been baby tested yet, as this is a Baby Shower Gift. But it is just as cute as in the picture and oh so soft and cuddly.

Since birth, it seems that the only way he would fall asleep and stay asleep was if he was on either my or my husband's chest. So when we put him in his crib, we turn the Sleep Sheep on playing the heartbeat sound and my son falls asleep shortly afterwards. This product works great for us and I would recommend it to any friends.

I bought the Sleep Sheep to provide white noise to help my infant son sleep better at night. As he currently sleeps in a bassinette beside our bed, my husband and I are reaping the benefits as well. I love that there is a volume control and it is infinitely adjustable to suit you preferences. So far, we like "rain" and "ocean" settings. I think the "heart beat" kind of sounds like somebody stomping around. I am also hoping that the sleep sheep will help transition easier from bassinette to crib when the time comes.

I received this product as a gift and have been using it in my bedtime routine with my 4 1/2 month old with much success. Unlike the reviews for some other sound machines, I cannot detect a repeating sound loop. I always use the "rain" mode and it sounds like continuous heavy rain with the occasional subtle splash of running water (very realistic sounding). I am not a fan of the other noises though. Let's just say that the "heart" sound is not for those recovering from wartime-induced PTSD....The first time I tried this sound, I felt like I needed to duck for cover in the trenches or something! It literally sounds like bombs were being dropped! But seriously, not that I remember what it sounds like to be inside a womb, but the heartbeat sound just doesn't seem very soothing to me! The "whale" sound is quite amusing and the ocean sound seems a bit too stimulating (when the waves come crashing in it gets louder). This doesn't bother me though because I like the "rain" sound so much (it even puts me to sleep while I listen to it through the baby monitor!!), so I don't care that the other sounds need some improvement. The sheep is very cute and soft and my baby seems to love it too. My only real complaint is that there is not an option for continuous play. The 45-minute option works fine for my baby without causing her to wake-up when it shuts off IF she falls asleep shortly after I turn it on. However, I like to turn it on before I lay her in her crib to create a "sleepy mood" and prepare her for bedtime (while reading a book, rocking her, feeding, etc). Although once it stops, all you have to do is press the preferred sound button to turn it back on, if you want to start it over again while it is still going, you have to turn the nob to turn it off and on again and then press the sound button to get the sounds to play for the 45 minutes again. I still really like this product, I just really wish that there was an option for allowing it play all night if desired because many babies will notice the sound change and wake-up.

This is such a sweet little lamb that makes soothing sounds to comfort infants. It's every bit as cute and cuddly as the picture.

I have an 18 month old girl, and as soon as she saw him she gave him a big hug. It is her companion at night and she adores it. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a simple stuffed animal to last a lifetime- as it seems it will.

Yes, you have to cut the lamp cord, but you don't have to strip the wires or do anything other than use a pair of scissors (after unplugging!) to snip the cord, push the ends of the cord into either side of the dimmer, and press down the plungers that grab the cord and automatically make the electrical connection for you. It took less than a minute to install, it feels safe, solid, and secure, and it works great.

The nightlight everyone is saying doesnt exist, does exist. What they consider the nightlight, if you go to their website, is the single red led on the front by the slider. It is a light so you can find the dimmer at night. Hence, nightlight. Maybe this matter can now be dropped.

Gets the job done. Installation was a snap, in a minute I uninstalled the lamp's original switch and replaced it with this cord dimmer. Just cut the wire, insert, and plug; no peeling required.

This is a fantastic design. Easy to install. Just clip your wire, insert ends, push down on two buttons. DONE. Life would float by dreamily if all things went this way. Okay I wax nauseatingly. Yeah there's no nightlight, whatever. My only complaint is that I can't find it in black.

The product is advertised as having a nightlight. This is not the case. There is no nightlight on this dimmer switch. When the first dimmer arrived and we hooked it up and, when we discovered that there was no light, we called Amazon customer service for assistance getting the product, with a nightlight, that we ordered. We explained that, according to the manufacturer, the product number does NOT have a light. Customer service insisted that the dimmer had a light and that they would send another. Imagine our lack of surprise when the new dimmer arrived without a nightlight. It's been at least a month since we informed Amazon customer service of the problem. At the very least, you would have thought that they would have removed the words "with nightlight" from the product description. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM IF YOU NEED THE NIGHLIGHT. The product DOES NOT have a one.
