The lamp looks great, but the build quality is not so great because the power switch is on the cord and the stem connection is not tight(at least on mine). The switch is 12" behind the lamp on the cord. In any situation I can imagine, this will leave the power switch behind the desk or end table and be hard to access. It's either that or leave 12 inches of cord on the table so you can find the switch. It would have been so easy to design and manufacture this lamp with a dark brown toggle switch on the base. It could be hidden on the side or be very usable and barely noticeable placed right on top. My lamp's lamp post is loose on the base and easily swings left and right. I will have to remove the felt glued to the bottom of the base to see if it can be tightened, or live with it lose. Not sure yet if I will return it or take it apart and try and fix the base and maybe even install a proper toggle switch on the base. Otherwise, I like the amount and quality of light through the shade and like how the lamp looks on the whole.

I just moved into an apartment and wanted unique stuff in it. This lamp is great. I first received a defective one but amazon was great about it and sent me a new one right away. Very pleased.

I received this and the lamp was leaning to the left, I don't think it was a shipping error, it looked like it was a manufacturing error. Also inside the box I found an Amazon slip and the same lamp had been sent to someone else in Sept 2009 and they had obviously returned it to Amazon.

Very nice lamps for the price, a little tipsy if placed on a small table, resolved this with exchanging tables to place on.

I recently bought a bedroom suite that has an oriental look to it with sweeping sides.. I purchased this light for a night stand. It is a fabulous product; heavy and sturdy; this light won't tip over from being top heavy. I like the look so well I ordered another one and both will go on either end of the dresser w/mirror. I have already located a replacement light for the night stand. This is a quality lamp and more over at a great price!
